During the March meeting of the Anderson 3 Board of Trustees, the board approved the administration's recommendation for Emily Wilson to become the new Principal of Starr-Iva Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Wilson joined Anderson 3 in 2012 as a sixth-grade ELA teacher, where she quickly rose to the role of Instructional Coach at Starr-Iva. She began her career as an administrator as Iva Elementaryโs Assistant Principal before serving as the Middle-Level ELA Education Associate in the Office of Standards and Learning at the South Carolina Department of Education. For the past four years, she has served SIMS as the Assistant Principal of Instruction, where she has raised the instructional bar with teachers and students by cultivating a culture of continuous learning and excellence in the classroom.
"There are so many reasons that Mrs. Wilson is the right fit to serve as our next Principal of Starr-Iva Middle School. She is a passionate leader who deeply understands both the academic and personal needs of middle school students. Her experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and administrator has shaped her into an educator who not only sets high expectations but also provides the support necessary for students and teachers to reach them. Her commitment to academic excellence, instructional growth, and student success is evident in every role she has held, and I have no doubt she will continue to elevate SIMS to new heights. We are excited for this next chapter under her leadership!" - Kathy D. Hipp, Superintendent
Mrs. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle-Level Education from Presbyterian College and a Master of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. She is married to her husband of eleven years, John Thomas Wilson. Together, they have four children: Ella Grice, Eva Rose, Stokes, and Walker.
