Mrs. Fortner’s 3rd graders were hard at work today during math rotations as they reviewed area and multiplication. 🦺🚧 Students were challenged to design a blueprint and then construct a building based on the design. At the teacher’s table, Mrs. Fortner, the “Project Manager”, led students in a review activity using blocks and pop-its. What a wonderful, hands-on way to review area! 😍

Bringing learning to life in Mrs. Newton’s classes! 🎃 After reading several Jack-o-lantern stories, digging deep with pumpkin related vocabulary, and writing an informational essay on how to carve a pumpkin, students worked together to design a face, remove the pulp, seeds, and fibrous strands, and carve the pumpkin! Afterwards, each class gave their Jack-o-lantern a name. Meet King Bob and Queen Dracula!

Our teachers recently took a closer look at the vocabulary words used in their daily read alouds and shared their plans with teammates. 📚 Teachers also collaborated to sort synonyms and antonyms on a gradient chart according to their meanings. We are thankful for our district taking initiative to provide teachers with strong professional development through LETRS training.📘

For the last three weeks, Mrs. Blanton’s first graders have been learning about our local community during their reading block. After learning about the vocabulary word “churn”, students discussed how farmers in our community work to provide milk so that we can have things like butter, ice cream, and other dairy products. To celebrate their learning, the class made butter, ate it, and wrote a thank you note to the Peeler Family at Milky Way Farms. 🐮🚜🧑🏻‍🌾 Thank you, local farmers!
