Dear Starr Elementary Families,
I hope this message finds you well! We have been off to a very productive school year already, and we are so thankful to have your child at Starr Elementary.
Starting this school year, you may have noticed about 50 additional cars added to afternoon dismissal. This has caused slight congestion in the afternoons, with traffic backing up well onto Agnew Road before dismissal time. Without another egress from Agnew Road to Highway 81, this causes many safety concerns for our parents and community.
To relieve this traffic, we will reroute our dismissal line to approach the school via Professor Brown Lane, but to the south.
Starting Monday, August 19, car rider traffic will need to approach the school from the South by turning onto Professor Brown Lane via Stones Throw Avenue or Cumming Springs Road. We recommend that all traffic enter Professor Brown by first turning right onto Stones Throw Avenue via the traffic light.
This new route is designed to alleviate congestion and improve safety for everyone involved.
We understand that changes can be challenging, but safety remains our top priority. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the new traffic flow before it goes into effect. We will have staff on hand during the first few days to help guide you through the new process.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep our students and community safe. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 864-352-6154.
Sincerely,
Ashlea B. Hatcher
